Think2Master Puzzle: Pandemic – Puzzling For Posterity.

This Think2Master puzzle was created in 2020. According to the box it was designed in the US and Made in China.

I’ve got very strong feelings about this puzzle, but I’m not here to be political. I’m just opening a window into our recent past. Think2Master states in the puzzle listing that this is a “fun memento” and a “Great way to learn and remember all the events surrounding the pandemic.”

I would not go so far as to say it’s a way to learn about it, but rather a way to remember how it was portrayed to the world. 

I bought this puzzle used as I thought it was definitely something to save for posterity.

Just The Deets For Think2Master Pandemic Puzzle

Piece Count

Think2Master’s puzzles are ranged in piece sizes 48, 100, 250, 500, and 1000.

Cut Style

Think2Master puzzles are grid cut which means the pieces are cut in a more systematic grid pattern. The pieces typically have straight edges and pieces will meet at all four corners.

Material

The 1000 piece puzzle, Pandemic, had pieces with white board backing. There was very little, if any, dust. The pieces were sturdy and the surface had an almost “plastic” feel. As I had gotten mine used some of the pieces had shmutz on them which wiped off easily with a damp paper towel and did no damage to the puzzle itself.

Images & Themes

Image Quality and Resolution

The image quality was relatively crisp on the Pandemic puzzle. I found it difficult to photograph due to the glossy finish, though where the puzzle had vibrant colors it was certainly easier.

Theme Variety and Originality

Think2Master puzzles seem to be available new through Amazon or used through the places you usually find used puzzles. They also sell other educational materials so puzzles are not their focus.

Theme-wise you’ll see animal collages, city scenes, a US map, and a food collage. Again, puzzles are not their main focus.

Benefits of Doing Jigsaw Puzzles

There are so many benefits to doing jigsaw puzzles. Doing puzzles is similar to meditation; it helps you focus your mind. When concentrating solely on the puzzle, every day stresses and anxieties have no room to run rampant.

Memory improvement is another major benefit of puzzling; one must recognize patterns and shapes and remember where they belong in the wider picture. Studies show they are especially helpful for Alzheimer and dementia patients; the mental stimulation has been shown to delay a worsening of symptoms.

In addition to those skills, they help teach pattern recognition, shape sorting, color recognition, problem solving, and even patience.

Aside from the subject matter of the puzzle, I found it to have the typical ‘made in China’ feel about the pieces. They fit together snugly and were of average thickness.

I can’t say I loved the high gloss finish (I’m a matte finish girl) and I very much dislike the use of the alphabet grid on the back.

I do see a benefit to the alpha grid on the back in puzzles that are challenging and have repeating patterns. Otherwise, the grid is a distraction during sorting as no pieces have a blank side.

If you enjoy puzzles made in China you will probably enjoy the Think2Master puzzles. In all honesty I don’t think I’d recommend this puzzle for the emotional rollercoaster ride while completing it.
