Trefl Spiral Puzzles – Oh my goodness.
Trefl is already one of my favorite brands, after having done a Crazy Shapes puzzle. This time I scooped up a two more puzzles, one from the Spiral collection and one from the Prime collection.
I selected the Spiral Nature puzzle because the colors are stunning and ‘spiral’ sounded challenging. I was not wrong!
Let’s get into the nitty gritty of this impressive puzzle!
Are Trefl Spiral Puzzles right for you?
In this article I’ll review the features and benefits of Trefl Spiral Puzzles.

The Trefl Spiral puzzles are a unique cut which is similar to the Krypt puzzle by Ravensburger in that they share the spiral center. Trefl’s spiral has more pieces per area and some of them are very small.
Material
The Trefl Spiral puzzle has very sturdy pieces with a matte finish which made seeing the entire puzzle at once super easy. I didn’t have any issue with peeling and there was almost no dust at all. Winning!

Image Quality and Resolution
Image quality is super important when selecting a puzzle! The Spiral Nature puzzle has intense vibrant colors and is rich with detail.
There was no reference poster inside the box, but the front photo provided enough of a guide for me, though I will say the Spiral logo on the front covers the bottom left corner of the image.
The back of the box has the entire puzzle mapped in a smaller size. If you get really stuck you can look at the location of every piece. Bring a magnifier to that party though.
Theme Variety and Originality
As of this posting, there are two Trefl Spiral puzzles available in the US; The Nature puzzle, and the Zodiac Signs puzzle.
Trefl offers a deeper catalog of images in their other puzzle lines, Trefl Red, Trefl Prime, Trefl Woodcraft, and Trefl Baby.
Benefits of Doing Jigsaw Puzzles
There are so many benefits to doing jigsaw puzzles. Doing puzzles is similar to meditation; it helps you focus your mind. When concentrating solely on the puzzle, every day stresses and anxieties have no room to run rampant.
Memory improvement is another major benefit of puzzling; one must recognize patterns and shapes and remember where they belong in the wider picture. Studies show they are especially helpful for Alzheimer and dementia patients; the mental stimulation has been shown to delay a worsening of symptoms.
In addition to those skills, they help teach pattern recognition, shape sorting, color recognition, problem solving, and even patience.
Jen Recommends!
This spiral puzzle was such a great challenge! My plan was to start in the center and work my way to the outer edges; which is how I approached my failed attempt at the Ravensburger Krypt puzzle.
After sifting through the box I started pulling out all the eye-popping colors and wound up doing everything colorful and leaving all the green corners for last. Yikes.
Those green corners were ultimately the most challenging, but no less fun than the colorful bits. I discovered a red-eyed tree frog hiding behind the spiral logo.
I absolutely recommend getting a Spiral puzzle if you’re looking for a challenge but don’t want to pull your hair out with a spiral puzzle that is all one color. So. Much. Fun.
