Benefits of Doing Jigsaw Puzzles
There are so many benefits to doing jigsaw puzzles. Doing puzzles is similar to meditation; it helps you focus your mind. When concentrating solely on the puzzle, every day stresses and anxieties have no room to run rampant.
Memory improvement is another major benefit of puzzling; one must recognize patterns and shapes and remember where they belong in the wider picture. Studies show they are especially helpful for Alzheimer and dementia patients; the mental stimulation has been shown to delay a worsening of symptoms.
In addition to those skills, they help teach pattern recognition, shape sorting, color recognition, problem solving, and even patience.
Does Jen Recommend?
Yes!
The Home Sweet Gnome puzzle took me a bit longer than anticipated to complete; owing to the many similar shades along with the random cut pieces. It was thoroughly enjoyable, and I absolutely loved every minute of it!
PuzzleTwist® puzzles are also made in the USA! Check out other puzzle makers that are manufacturing puzzles in the USA here.
The “spot the difference” and “find Maynard” activities at the end were a nice added challenge which really made me appreciate the artists image. Home Sweet Gnome is created by Mirka Hokkanen and you can find her here.
Some of the differences were revealed as I went along but others needed more investigation. PuzzleTwist® offers a page for reveals on their website if you need help tracking down the changes.
I wasn’t able to find Maynard and had to look up his location. But! That’s a testament to how clever they were in hiding him.
If you like doing puzzles in sections, I recommend having some flat trays to move sections around. The interlock is good but pieces don’t always hold well when being moved. I was able to get 100% pick-up, which surprised me for a puzzle with random pieces.
PuzzleTwist® has fantastic quality. Not only are the puzzle pieces matte finish they have a beautiful linen style texture. See the above photos for close ups. The box has the same linen texture and has a nice feature about the artist as well.
Definitely give PuzzleTwist® a try especially if you enjoy the added activities after the puzzle is complete. Their website has some fun links too, including puzzle contests and a wall of shame. (lol!) Be sure to check those out.
