In this article I’ll review the features and benefits of Heye puzzles.

Heye Jigsaw Puzzles Images & Themes

Image Quality and Resolution

Overall, the image quality of Heye puzzles is considered to be good. The puzzles use high-quality printing processes that result in sharp and vivid colors. There are a few isolated reports of blurry or pixelated images, but this is not a common problem.

Zozoville puzzles are delightfully weird with subtle colors shifts and whimsical details.

Cut Style

Heye’s Laundry Day puzzle is random cut . That means the pieces are more irregular and unpredictable manner compared to traditional puzzles.

Random cut puzzles feature pieces that are cut in various shapes and sizes, often with whimsical and non-uniform edges.

The irregular cutting of the pieces adds an extra level of challenge to solving the puzzle, as it eliminates the visual cues provided by the regular grid pattern.

Material

Heye’s Zozoville puzzles are made from recycled cardboard. The puzzle pieces have an almost linen-like texture, which helps cut down on glare. It is not quite as obvious a texture as a Cobble Hill.

Benefits of Doing Jigsaw Puzzles

There are so many benefits to doing jigsaw puzzles. They’re great for keeping your brain sharp. I use them for concentration, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.

In addition to those skills, they help teach pattern recognition, shape sorting, color recognition, problem solving, and even patience.

Does Jen Recommend Heye Jigsaw Puzzles?

Yes!

Heye’s Zozoville puzzles were on my radar for quite a while. I happened upon Laundry Day at a used bookstore and grabbed it. Luckily it had all the pieces.

Laundry Day’s colors are a dreamy mix of vintage-y earth tones. I wouldn’t normally be drawn to these colors for puzzling, but the artwork is just too good to pass up!

While the pieces are on the thicker end of the thickness scale, they were not as snug fitting as I had expected. Working in sections is definitely not recommended.

Heye Fun Fact

Laundry Day had a few tricksy pieces! Some pieces appeared to be edges but were not. I also had a piece that completely separated from the image and was in slices, which I found fascinating.

I also had one extra piece. Normally when buying used you may find pieces from other puzzles in the box. The extra piece was of the same color as the puzzle and definitely belonged to the image, just not to my puzzle. Fun!

From what I am able to glean, puzzles by Heye made in Germany are grid cut, and those made in USA are random cut.

Heye also makes many other styles of puzzles, which I’ll be reviewing in another post. This post is just all about the fantastical world of Zozoville. Definitely worth doing, even with the downside of looser pieces and a lack of reference poster proving image does matter.
