Gibsons is a British, family-owned company that was founded by Harry Percy Gibson in 1919. Bringing people together is at the heart of what they do, and it shows. They make fantastic quality puzzles, board games, and playing cards.
The company is into their fourth generation with the founder’s great-granddaughter at the helm and are still providing fun family pastimes for all ages.

Worth noting is their Piecing Together Collection, which is geared towards those with dementia, limited motor skills, and/or the visually impaired.
Cut Style
While the puzzles generally are grid cut (which means the pieces are cut in a more systematic grid pattern the pieces typically have straight edges and pieces will meet at all four corners) Gibsons is renowned for its unique and challenging piece cut.
Materials
The 1000 piece puzzle, London Landmarks, had pieces with the best feel ever. Gibsons uses 100% recycled board and the pieces were 2mm thick, the thickest board on the market. The cut of the pieces was absolute perfection. The pieces are perfectly flat on top, which makes it extra satisfying to place them.
Benefits of Doing Jigsaw Puzzles
There are so many benefits to doing jigsaw puzzles. They’re great for keeping your brain sharp. I use them for concentration, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
In addition to those skills, they help teach pattern recognition, shape sorting, color recognition, problem solving, and even patience
Does Jen Recommend Gibsons Jigsaw Puzzles?
The Gibsons puzzle I did was seriously the best puzzle ever! The puzzle pieces have a thick and solid feel. They fit together so well, I cannot describe the satisfaction in placing each piece into the puzzle.
Comparing their pieces to Ravensburger, they are about the same thickness. While Ravensburger pieces have an ever so slight roundness to their edges, the Gibsons were perfectly flat. I had no idea I would love that so much.

The only down side for me is that living in the US, it is ridiculously expensive to purchase directly from Gibsons. They have a new puzzle that I am drooling over but the shipping cost was over three times the cost of the puzzle.
There are retailers in the US that offer Gibsons puzzles so you can definitely get your hands on them. And I recommend that you do. I scored mine at a used book shop for less than half the price. Thank you kind stranger for trading it in!
